Top waste management industry national award presented to Yorkshire waste and recycling experts

Award Presentation

A prestigious waste management industry national award has been won and presented to two Yorkshire-based industry experts.

At an awards ceremony held on 8th November at the Grosvenor Hotel in London, hosted by Julia Bradbury (Countryfile), Harrogate-based Dr Jane Beasley of Beasley Associates and Otley-based Ray Georgeson MBE of RGR consultancy were jointly awarded the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management’s (CIWM) James Jackson Award. This prestigious national industry award is presented annually for the best paper published in an industry publication. It was awarded to Jane and Ray for their paper ‘Made today, Gone tomorrow – future trends in resource management’ which explores how consumer and product trends will influence the materials recycling programmes of the next twenty years.

Dr Jane Beasley said: “Recognition for your work from fellow industry professionals is especially pleasing and I am grateful to the CIWM for this valuable award. It means a great deal, especially to have received it for work which looks ahead at the future role of our industry.”

Ray Georgeson said: “I am truly honoured to have been awarded the James Jackson medal by my professional institution the CIWM, and especially delighted to share it with my long standing friend and professional colleague Dr Jane Beasley.”

The awards were presented to Jane and Ray by this year’s CIWM President, John Skidmore of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and the event host Julia Bradbury.
