Strategy & Policy

We develop new strategies and policies from scratch, covering a wide range of waste, resource and circular economy issues and we also undertake reviews, revisions and updates of existing strategies. We identify opportunities to further develop and improve policy to support performance improvements, realise efficiency savings, sustain service changes, and implement social and wider benefits. We develop the business case to support strategic delivery and underpin feasibility studies. In addition, we benchmark strategy and policy and make recommendations for improvements, including identification of good practice.

Joint Working

We identify opportunities for partnership working, whether this is to improve performances, realise efficiencies, address capacity issues, or deliver against budgetary requirements. We work with existing and new partnerships and support them in developing action plans, governance arrangements, identifying budget requirements and preparing a business case for invest-to-save strategies. We identify opportunities for joint working and in the public sector we work with Members and Senior Officers to move this forward. We bring together WCAs, WDAs, and Unitary authorities and we also work with the private sector, charity and reuse sector.

Research

We undertake research covering a wide range of waste and resource issues, including for example: market research and appraisal, scale and impact of waste crime, reuse & social benefit opportunities, circular economy solutions etc. We are experienced practitioners and are skilled in developing appropriate methodologies that will generate rigorous results within budget requirements and timescales. We evaluate secondary research outcomes, undertake literature reviews and critiques of existing data and information. We are skilled in survey design, delivery and evaluation. We can develop appropriate performance indicators and design and schedule monitoring assessment strategies and action plans.

Operational Issues

We provide the support required to implement operational changes to services and provide creative solutions to operational challenges. We use modelling to evaluate the options available and make clear recommendations based on specific and tailored priorities such as performance improvements, efficiency savings. We review contract arrangements including performance against KPIs and contract conditions and make recommendations for change and renegotiation. We review current practices, including short term trials, and evaluate the findings with a view to making longer term recommendations.

Engagement

We prepare, facilitate and deliver workshops to reach consensus, establish opinon and perspectives, and make recommendations for future action. We undertaken consultation design and delivery on a wide range of resource and waste management issues and engage in stakeholder dialogue. We develop targeted and focused communications plans, review communication activities and develop monitoring and assessment strategies for commuication activities.
